Bush to lift OIL BAN!!!
July 14th 2008 16:34
Today Bush is to lift the ban on oil drilling around the United States to try and help accomidate oil prices. Is it me or does this seem like a move that will do more harm than good. While this might be a fix for oil prices in the future, it will not help now and now is what we need helping with. If offshore drilling gets past congress and is allowed, it will take at least 5 years before they can start drilling due to locating. Then they will need to build their rigs to drill for oil.
We would not see an impact in prices for at least 10 to 20 years if this goes through. What is wrong with government today don't they understand that it won't help now. Don't they get that we are suppose to be moving away from oil not opening up more oil fields. We might not even need oil in 20 years, we might be totally on electric or something else as an alternative.
Bush sees this as a good idea with his small IQ and Oil interests of course, so this is his way of playing the media once again to his advantage. It just pisses me off knowing that one minute we are suppose to be moving away from oil and the next we need to start drilling in the most fragile environments in the world. Doesn't that sound a bit contradicting? Don't we need something done to impact now? Isn't the world suppose to be reducing carbon emissions and not helping fuel the fire? Why are people smart but as a society ignorant when it comes to something that matters on this scale?
